Harbor Stewards Needed

The Harbor Management Plan calls for volunteer Harbor Stewards for Port Madison, Blakely Harbor, Manzanita Bay, and Eagle Harbor. The criteria for being a Harbor Steward are residency on the waterfront or a boating background and a willingness to work with the Harbormaster, Harbor Commission, and other Harbor Stewards. Learn More

Bainbridge Island Emergency Flotilla

Boaters would support emergency response by transporting essential staff to keep city operations going: emergency workers, building inspectors, electricians. We may also be called to transport goods to the island. For that reason, we’d love to see all size vessels, located on and off the island, moored in wet or dry locations. To volunteer your boat, dock or van for future Emergency Flotilla activities, contact Tami Allen, Harbormaster, at 780-3733 or send email.

Natural Landscapes Project

We are a nonprofit organization striving to protect human health, water quality and the environment by providing educational outreach to our community. We teach people about the hazards of using chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides while also promoting organic gardening methods and natural lawn care. www.naturallandscapes.org

Puget Sound Restoration Fund

To learn about installing a shellfish farm on your beach or supporting a community farm, contact Morgan Rohrbach at 780-6947 or morgan@restorationfund.org. The Bainbridge-based Puget Sound Restoration Fund’s mission is to “Achieve on-the-ground restoration of habitat and native species in Puget Sound by focusing on action, not politics.” www.restorationfund.org

Sustainable Bainbridge

Sustainable Bainbridge was formed to support cooperation and collaboration among a broad-based network of local organizations, businesses, government and individuals to protect and strengthen our community’s social, environmental, and economic sustainability for current and future generations. www.sustainablebainbridge.net
